Somatic practices.

We are always practicing something--in things as simple as how we wash the dishes, talk to our children, facilitate a meeting or things as complex as how we're able to say yes or no, how we move towards or away conflict, how we express love.  Practices are generally automatic. We often learn them inside our families and they are deeply impacted by race, class, gender, and ability.

Somatics asks us to be in purposeful practice.  We want our  practices to be aligned with what we care about.  We want to firmly integrate those practices so that they are embodied and available to us when we are stressed, under pressure or triggered.
